Jableh… Icon of History

More than four thousand years ago, on the western coast of great Syria, one of the most beautiful and radiant cities on earth was born… Jableh was born.

Jableh, the city that embraces the Mediterranean Sea, where its waves rush toward the rocky shores, carving eternal paintings, plucking fragments from its stones, and scattering them across the world—souvenirs from a city that never dies.

Here, where a thousand histories intersect with a thousand civilizations, the old streets and ancient alleys speak volumes of glory. From its nearby hills, humanity received the gift of the world’s first alphabet, and from its shores the Phoenicians set sail, carrying the letters of light to every corner of the earth.

In its grand Roman theater, the echoes of Roman horses still resound, mingling with the strum of lyres and the chants of their ancient art. And within its venerable mosque, the ascetic spirit of Sultan Ibrahim ibn Adham lingers, extending compassion to its poor; there the heart finds rest within its walls, and the soul ascends as the minarets rise.

In al-Daribe and al-Salibe, Jableh’s oldest quarters, the fragrance of defiance and resistance to tyranny fills the air. For here stands Jableh which accepts neither humiliation nor submission.

And in the voice of its waves, the echoes of its heroes resound, as memory recalls the image of champion Mohammed Zeitoun, crowned with a world title in swimming.

Jableh… where the plain meets the mountain, and the saltiness of the sea meets the sweetness of the land. A city born from the womb of opposites, with its placenta still clinging to this sea… until the end of time.
